Eric Heffner, along with Darrell Gary, President of Nexus Properties, formed Windstar Communities in July of 2003. Windstar Communities is currently in predevelopment and construction on several projects, totaling over 2,400 units. Their first project, Stadium Lofts in Anaheim broke ground in November, 2004. Eric brings over 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, specializing in income producing properties.
Immediately prior to forming Windstar Communities, Heffner served as Vice President of Development and Acquisitions for Western National Properties. Western is a full service apartment development company with over 25,000 units in its portfolio. The company is based in Irvine, California and Heffner added over 3,600 units to the portfolio in his three years there. Prior to joining Western National Properties, Mr. Heffner was a Vice President with Lend Lease Real Estate Investments where he oversaw multifamily and commercial development for the worldwide firm in San Diego. Before he joined Lend Lease, he opened the San Diego office for Prowswood Development, which was subsequently acquired by Boston Financial and then sold to Lend Lease. During his career, Mr. Heffner was an investment broker for John Burnham & Company and Grubb & Ellis where he sold institutional investment grade property throughout the western United States. The product types included food anchored shopping centers, factory outlet centers, multi-tenant and single-tenant office buildings, land, apartments and industrial business parks. He has also earned the CCIM designation. He is a graduate of The University of Utah, where he earned 2 B.S. degrees and played football for the Utes. He is married and has three children. He has a California Real Estate Broker license and his membership includes the Southern California Apartment Association, the National Multi Housing Council, the Building Industry Association and the Urban Land Institute. Mr. Heffner is active in various community activities, including serving on the Board of Directors for Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito and has volunteered his spare time as a varsity football coach at Torrey Pines High School in Del Mar, CA. |
